Kimpton’s Hotel Palomar San Francisco Inspires Wellness on the Road with New “People In Motion” Program

Kimpton Hotels are rolling out a new offering as part of a brand-wide initiative to help guests maintain healthy lifestyles while traveling.

San Francisco, CA (Vocus/PRWEB) June 02, 2011

Kimpton’s Hotel Palomar, a boutique downtown San Francisco hotel, is helping guests maintain their healthy lifestyles with its “People In Motion” program, a daily and ongoing initiative that celebrates the health and wellness priorities of guests with morning guided runs and bicycles available for loan.

Available every morning at 7 am, hotel guests are invited to join a member of the hotel team on daily guided jogs throughout San Francisco. Runs are usually between two and three miles and all running levels are welcome.

In addition to the running program, guests who are seeking an active exploration for seeing the sites can also borrow one of the hotel’s 12 Dutch bicycles and enjoy a ride around the city. The bicycles are free of charge during the daylight hours, and are given out on a first-come, first-serve basis.

“We understand the difficulties of staying fit and maintaining a healthy lifestyle while traveling, but we also know how important it is to so many of our guests,” said Christopher Smith, general manager, Hotel Palomar San Francisco. “Our ‘People In Motion’ program was designed to make it easy for guests to bring their healthy habits on the road with them – to start the day off with a quick run, while also seeing the sites, or gaining a good workout while exploring the city on bike.

“We’ve heard from our guests that they enjoy the opportunity to run with other guests and swap stories of the sites they’ve seen, as well as getting the inside scoop on some of the must-see or do places along the running route.”

Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants recently fortified its “stay true to you and your lifestyle” mantra by introducing new tools to inspire healthy living on the road. The company’s Mind.Body.Spa program offers guests various resources to maintaining a healthy balance while traveling, such as healthy in-room dining options for breakfast, lunch and dinner, created in partnership with renowned health and nutrition expert Joy Bauer and complimentary on demand fitness offering like in-room Pilates, meditation and core strength programming, as well as 24-hour yoga channel and the use of props and mats that complement individual hotels fitness centers.

In 2008, Kimpton became the first and only boutique hotel company to introduce organic and paraben-free spa products to its in-room spa treatment program. Kimpton’s wellness initiatives continue to come to life in different ways with new endorphin-boosting activities available at different hotels nationwide.

Health Blog WellWise.org Unveils Tips to Improve the Omega 3 and Omega 6 Balance in Americans' Diets

Boulder, CO (PRWEB) May 12, 2011

The typical American diet contains a dangerous imbalance of omega 3s and 6s. Wellwise.org has joined the campaign of Dr. Bill Lands, the worlds foremost authority on essential fatty acids, to give Americans healthier lifestyle choices by providing access to Dr. Lands extensive research on the omega 3 and omega 6 content in foods.

WellWise.org wants Americans to know that by getting under control the balance between omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids in their diet, they vastly improve their chances of enjoying good health. Having too many omega 6s in one’s diet dramatically increases the risk of contracting asthma, coronary heart disease, many forms of cancer, autoimmunity or neurodegenerative diseases such as Alheimer’s, and increases the likelihood of becoming obese, depressed, hyperactive or worse.

Dr. Bill Lands is the former Senior Scientific Advisor to the Director of the National Institutes of Health, has authored more than 250 papers on fatty acids, and was one of the worlds 1,000 most-cited scientists in 1965-1978.

He spent many years of his long career preaching to the wrong choir, as he puts it insurance companies, government agencies, healthcare organizations. But he found that these profit-making industries had little interest in spreading information about preventing the health complications inherent in the typical American diet.

Now retired, Dr. Lands is on what he calls his final mission, to convince Americans to Nix the 6s and Eat the 3s.

Omega-3 (such as EPA and DHA) and omega-6 fatty acids (such as linoleic acid) are essential for good health as long as they are in balance. But the typical American diet is overloaded with omega-6s from commercial oils (such as safflower and corn oils), processed foods and animal feeds, causing this dangerous imbalance. The consequences: inflammation, the process that most researchers believe to be the basis of all disease.

Dr. Lands has created a comprehensive healthy eating guide by tapping the U. S. Department of Agriculture Nutrient Database, which quantifies the nutrients in thousands of foods. He has devised a simple plus-or-minus rating system for the omega 3 – omega 6 balance in cereals, breads and grains; vegetables; fruit; dairy and eggs; meats, fish and legumes; oils and sweets; and prepared foods.

Now these rankings allow anyone to understand what foods to emphasize to correct an omega 3 / omega-6 imbalance by simply checking the foods on a proposed grocery list against Dr. Lands’ healthy eating guide, and adding up the numbers. The higher the total, the better in balance the diet will be.

The public can access Dr. Lands lists at the health blog website WellWise.org.

Identifying the Most Healthy Food for Dogs

Many factors can impact the health of your pet and taking advantage of unique opportunities will allow you to improve their health and extend their lifespan. Two of the most important factors you can look into, when trying to improve the health of your pet, is found with regular exercise as well as healthy food for dogs. By taking advantage of the benefits created through exercise, you will be able to regularly energize your pet, while also creating unique bonding experiences that both pet and owner will benefit from.

When you look into the opportunities that exist with utilizing healthy food for dogs, the topic is often far more complex than most individuals realize. The fault most pet owners create is found with having the misperception that all dog food is equal. While many individuals recognize that there are certain brands that prove to be much more beneficial to their animal, they believe that conventional brands or discount resources will provide their pets with the same vitamins and nutrients. The truth is, most dog foods often fail in providing animals with the most essential vitamins and nutrients, which can be harmful to your pet’s health.

When looking into dog food secrets, one of the most significant points to identify is found with the ingredients used within different kinds of pet foods. If you purchase foods based on price, you are often supplying your pet with the very low quality of food that is sold to pique the interest of individuals looking to save money, rather than for individuals looking to provide their pets with the highest quality food. Rather than selecting a dog food based solely on price, look into factors such as ingredients, in order to determine specifically whether this is the best option to feed your pet or whether you should pursue another alternative.

While most individuals will pursue the resources of healthy food for dogs through pre-prepared options, more individuals are beginning to take advantage of unique alternatives. Rather than relying on companies to generate food for your pet, pet owners are beginning to look towards the opportunities of creating their own pet food, in order to develop the most healthy food alternative for their pet friend. By taking advantage of unique recipes that are available with generating your own pet food, an individual will be able to create a variety of dietary options for their pet, providing the greatest source of nutrition when it comes to improving overall health.

When looking to take advantage of the unique opportunities created with dog food secrets, an individual often has to go no further than pursuing the possibilities that we found in the online environment.

Nuphedrine Diet Pill Review

Nuphedrine is the only diet pill in the market today that contains a genuine South African Hoodia (cactus plant) along with the patented Advantra-Z. The plant Hodia has been established to be a potent and effective appetite suppressant. The manufacturer of Nuphedrine as well claims that other diet pills in the market today contain the fake Hoodia plant. Not like Nuphedrine wherein the company can show a certificate proving the authenticity of the product’s ingredient. In using the product, you must take three pills per day. The first two pills should be taken in the morning with an empty stomach while the third pill should be taken during the middle of the day.

Nuphedrine clearly contains the South African Hoodia that contains the P57 Hoodia. Only an authentic Hoodia plant is believe to produce the appetite suppressant effect that’s why the manufacturer of Nuphedrine is very proud of the authenticity of their Hoodia plant. Unfortunately, the said ingredient has never been established to actually suppress the appetite. Furthermore, the said plant is considered endangered specie thus should be used in any product.

Another added ingredient of Nuphedrine is Advantra-Z, a patented form of synephrine or citrus aurantium. This ingrediend works through burning the fats of the person without causing any side effects like jitters, sleeplessness, high blood pressure, and elevated cardiac rate. The third ingredient is called the Slimaluma which is extracted from Caralluma Fimbriata, an Indian plant which as well works through informing your brain that the person is already full.

The advantage of using Nuphedrine is that the product contains no caffeine. Furthermore, if you visit their official website, the consumer is offered money back guarantee. The consumer as well is given a free magazine subscription after purchasing their product.

However, the product also has its drawbacks. The main disadvantage of Nuphedrine is that it cost about $75 for a month’s supply which is actually very expensive compared with other diet pills. The manufacturer as well does not offer any free trial and the list of the ingredient is incomplete. There are as well testimonies that ingredients of Nuphedrine can certain side effects. Lastly, there is lack of clinical test and evidence that proves the product’s efficiency.

This product may seem amazing because of an ingredient it has but the cost and the possible risk it has will not be worth it. There are better diet pills supplements in the market today that are safer and more economical that Nuphedrine.

'17 Day Diet' Races Up Bestseller Lists

The 17 Day Diet is now a bestselling book as well. Dr. Michael Moreno, who launched the diet late last year, now joins the authors of the South Beach Diet, the 5 Day Miracle Diet, and the Atkins Diet, among countless others, at the top of USA Today's list of advice books. Like most other diet plans, the 17-Day Diet revolves around a specific meal plan and exercise regime, designed to allow you to lose the maximum amount of weight in the shortest amount of time.

The 17 Day Diet involves four food cycles that add up to, not surprisingly, 17 days of precise eating methods. These are meant to confuse the body into speeding up its metabolism, while at the same time not allowing it to get comfortable enough to stop dropping weight. In addition to the food plan, the diet also requires strict adherence to a daily 17-minute exercise regime.

The diet reportedly can allow you to lose as much as 10 to 15 pounds per day, beginning with its focus on water weight reduction. Moreno has taken his diet plan to Good Morning America, and Dr. Phil, among others, the latter of whom challenged his viewers to do the diet with him.

Like the Atkins Diet, the 17 Day Diet is broken into four phases. In the 17 Day Diet, these are the four A's-Accelerate, Activate, Achieve, and Arrive. The Arrive portion of the program is designed for weight maintenance after you have achieved your 17 Day goals.

The 17 Day Diet is an offshoot in many ways of the movement towards clean eating. Whereas the Atkins Diet was also broken into four parts-Induction, Ongoing Weight Loss, Pre-Maintenance, and Lifetime Maintenance, that allowed for a gradual re-introduction of carbs, the 17 Day Diet allows for them but maintains strict rules for the consumption of fruit and carbs both.

Like the Atkins Diet at its peak of popularity, the 17 Day Diet is not without critics. Several dietitians and nutritionists, including American Dietetic Association spokeswoman Keri Gans, have cautioned against believing all that the 17 Day Diet promises. Gans has cried foul on Dr. Moreno's concept of metabolic confusion, and maintains that there is in actual fact no such thing. Furthermore, nutritionists have blasted Moreno's near-exclusion of dairy and fruit, as most view them as being part of an overall healthy eating plan.

Fitness And Nutrition For Health

In the age which we live there is an unprecedented focus on getting and staying healthy. As more and more research points to the effect of fitness and nutrition on our overall health, the findings become more difficult to ignore. There is no doubt that the food that we eat and the physical activity that we perform significantly impact our weight and our body’s overall health and longevity.

When you look at fitness and nutrition and the consequences of ignoring their importance, it is not difficult to see how large a role they play in our health. First and foremost, it is important to understand how powerfully diet can affect us. Natural, whole foods – such as fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and lean proteins – give our bodies the vitamins that it needs to function effectively. We have energy when we eat right. And when we have energy we burn fat. Eating properly allows us to maintain a healthy weight and keep undue stress off of our hearts; it also allows us to keep our blood pressure and cholesterol levels in the healthy range. Most importantly, good nutrition keeps our bodies stocked with antioxidants that fight off a range of illnesses including cancer.

But nutrition does go it alone; fitness and nutrition go hand in hand for achieving good health. When we keep our bodies active through a consistent exercise program, we are adding to our body’s ability to metabolize food and keep weight down. Further, good fitness means strong and limber muscles and a strong cardiovascular system. Exercise also lowers blood pressure and reduces stress levels.

Learning how to pair fitness and nutrition for optimum health means a commitment to a particular lifestyle. It is essential that you revamp your diet to eliminate fatty, high-sodium, and processed food and replace it with fresh, natural – and even organic – choices. But remember, fitness and nutrition work best as a team. Implement a consistent regime of physical activity into your daily schedule including cardiovascular work, stretching, weight training, and even yoga or Pilates.

When you truly understand the importance of fitness and nutrition in your life, you will understand how crucial these lifestyle changes are in order to live a long and healthy life.
